Widow Sons Thailand Northern Thailand Ride Out 2026

After many months of planning, Widow Sons Thailand finally managed to bring together more than four riders for a major ride outside Pattaya. Five members and one guest rider set off on a three day, 700 kilometre adventure through some of Northern Thailand’s most spectacular motorcycle roads.
The group consisted of:

Day 1: Chiang Mai to Pai
The ride began with a meeting at Bonnie’s Deli in Chiang Mai before heading towards Pai via Samoeng. Northern Thailand is regarded as one of the world’s premier motorcycle touring destinations, and it quickly became clear why.
The route offered endless mountain curves, breathtaking scenery and plenty of opportunities for coffee stops along the way. As the day progressed, the weather took a turn for the worse. Heavy rain arrived, testing both rider and machine.
Unfortunately, our guest rider experienced an unscheduled encounter with the roadside mud during one particularly challenging section. Thankfully there were no serious injuries, only a bruised ego and a very muddy motorcycle. After ensuring everyone was safe, the group continued towards Pai, perhaps with a little more caution than before.
Arriving at The Quarter Hotel in the late afternoon, the riders enjoyed a well earned swim, a cold drink and an evening exploring Pai.
Day 2: Pai to Mae Sariang via Mae Hong Son
Day two was the longest leg of the journey, covering approximately 270 kilometres through some of the most enjoyable riding roads in Thailand.
Sweeping bends, mountain viewpoints and quiet stretches of road made for a memorable day in the saddle. The roads around Mae Hong Son seem almost purpose-built for motorcycles, offering excellent surfaces and stunning scenery throughout.
The group stopped regularly to take in the views, enjoy local food and meet curious locals. Khao Soi lunches and roadside coffee stops became part of the adventure, while the riders themselves attracted plenty of attention from tourists and residents alike.
That evening the group arrived in Mae Sariang, where a riverside hotel and swimming pool provided a welcome opportunity to relax after a long day on the road. As always, one of the greatest benefits of a Widow Sons ride is the opportunity to spend quality time with fellow Brethren, sharing stories, experiences and plenty of laughter.
Day 3: Mae Sariang to Chiang Mai
The final day saw the group return towards Chiang Mai. With one rider needing to depart early for Bangkok and several rental motorcycles due back, the focus shifted to making steady progress while still enjoying the final stretch of the journey.
The roads became a little straighter and the pace a little quicker, though always within sensible limits. A final lunch stop at The Ozark, nestled in the mountains outside Chiang Mai, provided the perfect setting to reflect on the previous three days.
Following lunch, the group split up, some returning motorcycles while others headed for home.
More Than Just a Ride
While the scenery, roads and motorcycles were exceptional, the real purpose of Widow Sons Thailand remains unchanged.
Widow Sons brings together Freemasons who share a passion for motorcycling, combining fellowship with charitable giving. Traditionally, rides include fundraising for local causes, and this year’s ride supported Take Care Kids Pattaya, a charity dedicated to helping vulnerable children.
The 2026 Northern Thailand Ride Out delivered everything a motorcycle adventure should. Challenging weather, incredible roads, good food, great company and, most importantly, the bonds of Brotherhood that continue to make Widow Sons Thailand such a special organisation.
